The Cupping Session Explained:
A Cupping Session is a standardized method of evaluating coffee beans. During the session, participants are guided through the process of sniffing the coffee grounds to assess the aroma, then steeping them in hot water. After the coffee steeps, the crust of grounds at the top is broken, and the aroma released is evaluated again. Finally, the coffee is tasted, or "cupped," to assess its body, acidity, sweetness, bitterness, and aftertaste.
